Burgau is a little gem on the edge of the Costa Vicentina natural park. Situated between Lagos and Sagres, what used to be a sleepy fishing village is now also very popular with tourists that are looking for a fun but relaxing family holiday.

Burgau's old village centre is best explored by foot. Its labyrinth of white washed cottages and narrow cobbled roads lead down to little fishing boats pulled onto a steeply sloped street that doubles up into a slipway.

Salema is a small town with a long history as a fishing village.

Central to the beach is the boat launch, where you’ll often see fisherman tending to their boats or their nets.

Along the small streets you’ll find cafés, bars and cosy restaurants. For the active there’s some stunning clifftop walks to really get a feel for the west Algarve.

Salema is becoming a real foodie coastal village, with fantastic restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets.

Sagres is a sweet unassuming traditional fishing village with a cool vibe provided by the numerous bars and restaurants offering delicious Portuguese cuisine.
