Luz, Lagos, Portugal

Casa Dos Sonhos is in a quiet area, with extensive sea views. It is 20 minutes (2km) walk from the village of Praia da Luz.

Here you will find a fantastic beach, wonderful restaurants, cafes and bars. In the opposite direction (3km) you will find Burgau - another lovely village with a smaller beach and restaurants.

Lagos, is 10 minutes drive away. This is a wonderful vibrant and cultural town where you will find many more restaurants, bars, shops, markets and a lovely marina.

Getting around
A hire car is recommended, however, those not wishing to hire a car can get Airport Taxis, and find their way around on foot with the occasional help of a taxi.

Locations

To the beach's east there is a large black rock "Rocha Negra" which offers spectacular views of the bay. To it's west is Prainha, a beautiful cove with its own small beach, behind which is the historic Luz Fortaleza (fort). Praia da Luz

If you are looking for a charming, western Algarve resort in which to stay, Praia da Luz may well be the place for you. Situated 9 kilometres from Lagos, Praia da Luz (AKA Luz, Luz de Lagos & Vila da Luz) is a peaceful, beach resort that is especially popular with northern European families and tourists. Although its’ appeal is drawing in visitors from much further afield including Canada, America, and even New Zealand!

Praia da Luz has numerous bars, cafes and restaurants for you to enjoy with some exceptional eateries located directly on its beach. After dinner, tourists can enjoy sunset walks along the adjoining promenade which is often home to the wares of local art and craft sellers.

Lagos

Lagos is a vibrant and historic city with a variety of activities for young and adults alike. Here you will be spoilt for choice by the number of beaches, fabulous restaurants, cocktail bars and a huge variety of boat excursions and water sports.

Lagos also has its own high end Marina with beautiful promenade that is sure to offer great nights out in cosmopolitan bars and restaurants.

Lagos is also considered one of the best locations for a beach family holiday, due to its proximity to many famous sandy beaches along the Western Algarve coastline.

Further on you will find a beautiful sandy beach backed by high sloping cliffs that offer some of the most amazing walking trails and best views of the Atlantic horizon. A truly magical place with a great atmosphere of tranquility.

Burgau is a perfect base for exploring the Western Algarve. There are some lovely coastal walks from here and amazing neighbouring beaches such as Boca Do Rio, Salema and Praia da Luz.

Burgau

Burgau is a little gem on the edge of the Costa Vicentina natural park. Situated between Lagos and Sagres, what used to be a sleepy fishing village is now also very popular with tourists that are looking for a fun but relaxing family holiday.

Burgau's old village centre is best explored by foot. Its labyrinth of white washed cottages and narrow cobbled roads lead down to little fishing boats pulled onto a steeply sloped street that doubles up into a slipway.

Salema

Salema is a small town with a long history as a fishing village.

Central to the beach is the boat launch, where you’ll often see fisherman tending to their boats or their nets.

Along the small streets you’ll find cafés, bars and cosy restaurants. For the active there’s some stunning clifftop walks to really get a feel for the west Algarve. 

Salema is becoming a real foodie coastal village, with fantastic restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets.

Sagres is a sweet unassuming traditional fishing village with a cool vibe provided by the numerous bars and restaurants offering delicious Portuguese cuisine.

When in Sagres, make sure to visit the famous lighthouse at the end of Cabo de São Vicente, a remote and bleak headland which is the most south-westerly point of mainland Europe!

Sagres

The rock formations of Ponta da Piedade are a wonder of nature. You will see caves, grottoes and sea arches.

These rocks are the result of thousands of years of erosion. The limestone cliffs surrounding the rock formations are up to 20 metres high.

Ponte Da Piedade

Ponta da Piedade is a group of spectacular rock formations, caves, grottoes and sea arches along the coastline of Lagos. It is one of the most beautiful places of the Algarve and Portugal. The rock formations are visited by many tourists every year.

Technically, Ponta da Piedade is not a beach, since there is no sand. However, the bay downstairs is sometimes referred to as the beach of Ponta da Piedade. Literally, Ponta da Piedade translates as Piety Point.
